Peeves

I try to behave myself on my blog. But since this is supposed to be miscellaneous musings on "life the universe and everything" please indulge me this rare rant. Scroll to the end if you just want a really brief (and photoless) update on what's on the needles...

I have decided I really really dislike those quoted "service" windows when someone is supposed to appear at your house between oh...8 and noon or 1 and 5 to fix something. It seems, of late anyhow, I seem to be doomed to select vendors that are completely incapable of hitting their four hour window. Not only do they not provide any estimate as to whether it is likely that they will appear earlier in the four hour window or later in the four hour window...if they are going to *miss* the window completely, they don't call to see if it will still work out - and they seem surprised when asked about their timeliness policy. It's not as if I haven't got better things to do than just sit around waiting for my service call. Sheesh.

The other thing that has me peeved and slightly distressed - I find it both ironic and sad that the news yesterday was flooded with information about the already ridiculously overpublicized JonBenet Ramsey case - this on a day when the NSA eavesdropping program has been ruled unconstitutional. I find it simply sick and wrong that places like CNN.com have a ginormous photo of the of the suspect in the JonBenet case along with a summary and numerous links - one single link is found on the home page, and it's certainly not prominent. Honestly. I can't even watch the national news anymore because it's so worthless in terms of current events.

Anyhow. Back to more regular non-controversial content :)

I have a new hat on the needles (it's a holiday gift) and I'm still knitting away on my anklet socks (almost done with the toe increases I think), and of course, I'm still working the knitted version of the Red Poppy Pillow....

That 4 hour window drives me nuts. If they show, it's a miracle. If they don't, you are rescheduled for 3 days later. Cox is the worst about that.

I'm sick of the whole JonBenet thing all over again. What makes one murder case more important than any other?

Yeah the dreaded 4-hour window. We've been the victum of it several times this week - the worst was the Direct TV man... window between 8am and noon - which meant that i had to be up and dressed by 8am (something I am not good at these days)...

Noon came and went and he wasn't there. We both had 12:45pm dentist appoitments so we had to leave. We come to find out (after countless calls) that he was running behind...no sh*t!! We went to the dentist, each had our teeth cleaned, came home, still sat around and he finally came at 4:45pm.

OHHHHH and then when he did come he didn't once stop talking on his cell phone! It was awful!

He fixed the problem but not on time... GRRRRR

Yes and I agree about the whole murder case - it's nuts! I feel bad and all but I don't want to hear about it on all news channels all the time (that and I don't believe the guy did it - just think he's a nut job looking for a spotlight!)

Don't even get me started about both of these topics!! I have wasted about six days and several hundreds of dollars in food thanks to the incompetent service people of Sears... I could go on and on, just today got a new fridge and I hope it lasts. The window in this case was 8 hours and when they didn't repair it right, another 10 day wait (TWICE) for them to come back! A joke! And the Benet case? Pretty sick.... I can't get over sometimes the society we live in..... and getting worse unfortunately. Not to be a downer! But when you see the obsession with that, well...come on enough already......they sure stopped talking about Iraq and the other war quite quickly and now all we hear is about this. Surely there are many more newsworthy and important stories from around around the world??? Genocide in certain countries? People starving and dyeing? What about the 1/3 of children right here in the USA who don't have health coverage? Global warming? The increasing homeless here?? I could go on and on......Crazy........
