the Long and Short of it.

Elbow length cabled gloves, knit by me - details over here - not too many details because I made them up as I went along and failed to take notes.

Wrist length mitts, knit by Kiki - out of Spritely Goods Sidhe yarn in the Garnet colorway - Kiki had heard me talking about how my hands get cold and work less properly when I get stuck on the computer for long periods of time and she took pity on me by gifting me those lovely mitts. I adore how they pooled - they look really neat when they are on too with the expansion of the 1x1 ribbing and the way the colors stack up in the fabric - sadly I had to take these photos of the mitts on the table since I had no helper to assist with the photography.

I thought both projects were fitting with the current Project Spectrum element of Fire - partially due to the color, but the cables on the long gloves also remind me of the licking flames of a large fire.

In other fiery news, the Firestarters were off to an exceptional start, and I turned the heels and finished the heel flaps yesterday - sadly, I suspect they are going to the Frogpond to be ripped and redone on US0s. I'll take photos so I can show you the glorious colorway though - I'm really enjoying the knit, so I don't think I'll mind re-doing it (at least not too much anyhow). Stay tuned :)

Sorry folks, work continues to be crazy, so I continue to raid the gallery for knitting content. There hasn't been much personal knitting going on here, partially due to the crazy schedule and partially due to the mild tendinitis. Fear not, I hope to get a fair bit of knitting done on the Secret of the Stole as well as some of the mitered squares soon....The socks, though with all their twisty stitches are going to have to hold while I see if my hands will put up with less stressful knitting.

As for this lovely lace interlude, it's a Coccon Lace Wrap knit by Blogless Olivia - Olivia is on Ravelry though - so if you're a Raveler, you can go check out her other projects :) Yarn used is limited edition Lothlorien on Fey from Spritely Goods, of course :D

A stunning Mystery Stole 3 was knit by Cayli of Spin a Yarn for Ewe out of Spritely Goods Feeorin (superfine alpaca lace weight yarn)

This gorgeous shawl, knit by Queen Mudd has had me intrigued since I set eyes on it. It's just stunning. It's designed by a swedish designer, and the pattern can be purchased (not downloadable) either from the designer directly or from Helylle an online yarnshop in Sweden...the hangup? I hate to admit it, but it's the price. approximately $33. Just for the pattern. I may very well cave, but I'm definitely sleeping on it - my knitting queue is somewhat ridiculous and while I adore knitting lace, I still rarely wear it!

More OPK!

I am always amazed when I spend time with the Luscious Gracious Clan - they all knit, and they all knit together :) It certainly doesn't hurt that they like to knit with my yarn ;) Check their blog for their creative creations - and make sure you check their sidebar for all kinds of additional goodness.

All of the members of the family are prolific knitters, the above is just a small sampling - from a baby hat in Globe Mallow in a unique parallelogram stitch pattern, to a pair of hats from Domiknitrix: Whip Your Knitting into Shape, to a wonderful scarf to a completely original top down sweater...did you know, it only took two skeins of Sylph to knit that lovely sweater?!

Spring must be in the air as two projects have been photographed and emailed to me - both, serendipitously, in the Spring is Here colorway!

The first, is a pair of socks in Fey, knit by Naomi - the pattern is Tropicana from Magknits. I love how the colors came together :) nice and ripply - just gorgeous.


The second lovely Spring is Here goodness is a scarf - knit from two skeins of the Sprite DK/Sport weight yarn. This wonderful scarf was knit by Lalana - she has angora bunnies...so anyone who has a need for angora wool, go pay her a visit - I hear she's harvesting bunny fluff for selling - very few guardhairs she tells me :) I'm still working through a rather large purchase of angora fluff otherwise I'd be all over it!
